Airsoft Guns Buying Guide
Buying an airsoft gun or pretty much anything depends on what you are going to use it for. But as for airsoft guns are concern, I suggest that you get the basic stuffs first
- Silicone lubricant spray
- BB bottle
- Rechargable AAA batteries (for electric airsoft guns)
- Rechargable battery charger (for electric airsoft guns)
- Skirmish mask or goggles (if planning to play war games)
A silicone lubricant in needed to prolong the life of your airsoft guns. The BB bottle eases up refilling BBs into your airsoft guns. For airsoft electric guns, you may want to buy rechargable AAA batteries. Most airsoft electric guns use 4 AAA batteries. I recommend that you buy 8 to have 4 for spare. Of course with rechargable batteries, get the battery charger as well. If planning to use your airsoft guns for war games, please, get a goggle or a skirmish mask to protect your eyes and face.
Now, into choosing your airsoft guns. For war games, there are several types of war games that people normally play. With the three types of airsoft guns in the market, you should get one that suits the playground. You can read more about the types of airsoft guns at my types section. Now let's take a look at the type of war games people play and what can be the best airsoft weapon to use.
Woodland war games ... playing in the woods
This
is a popular type of war game as it simulates real wars. For this what is
recommended are airsoft machine guns or airsoft sub-machine guns. Actually
you need an airsoft weapon that has reasonable firing distance, rate of fire
and is durable. I would recommend an airsoft electric gun (AEG) for this because
of the capability to shoot fully automatic.
Some example of good airsoft electric guns (AEG) and airsoft rifles for this game would be the M16 (M4 or M16A2), AK47 or the SIG.
Open ground war game ... playing in open space
Open ground like playing in a field. For this type of game, you need something that is a little bit powerful than the above. You need to be able to shoot from far. It has to have medium rate of fire and medium firing distance.
What would be a good airsoft gun for this type of game is newer versions of the M16 (M4 or M16A2), AK47 or the SIG. This is of course from the airsoft electric gun type.
If you plan to be a sniper, a very good spring rifle for this purpose is the APS-2. It has good accuracy and firing distance. Never, never use for close combat.
Urban war game ... playing where there's buildings
Next
is playing in a place where there's building like a ghost town or something.
In games like this, you need airsoft guns that are capable of high rate of
fire and short range firing distance. Most of the time, an airsoft gun that
can be handled with one hand would be very suitable. So, machine pistols and
sub-machine guns would be very good for this type of game. It can be of any
airsoft electric guns or gas airsoft guns. Airsoft spring guns can also do,
but you'll probably get shot while cocking your gun ... heh.
For this type of game, most people favor the UZI and MP5.
For bugging your friends ... inside
If
you don't really have intention in war games, just feel like bugging people
or kill the cockroaches, just get a mini airsoft electric guns.
